[…] previously wrote a blog post in some of the books on my reading list (click here to read it) and I hope to finally get through them in […]
One of the very bad habits I have is the fact that I always start a book, get halfway through the book, stop reading that particular book, and then start reading a completely new one and this cycle goes on and on and on. To be honest, I really don’t know why I do this and as a result, my bookshelf is filled up with half-read books that I hope, one day, I’ll finally get through.
So today, I’m sharing my current reading list with you guys. I’ve made it a challenge to myself to spend more of my free time reading books instead of watching Netflix or just scrolling aimlessly through my phone. These books are quite easy reads and I can’t wait to finish reading them.

- The first books on my list are two books written by Rupi Kaur, ‘Milk and Honey’ and ‘The Sun and Her Flowers’. These books are a collection of short poems that deal with multiple themes including feminism, self-love, healing and trauma. Both books have been bestsellers and I’m looking forward to indulge in them.
- Next on my list is ‘How To Be A Bawse’ written by Lilly Singh. You might know Lilly Singh by her online name, ‘IISuperwomanII’. This book is an amazing self-help book that gives helpful advice on how to conquer life. In the words of Lilly herself, a bawse is “a person who exudes confidence, hustles relentlessly, reaches goals and smiles genuinely because he or she has fought through it all and made it out the other side”. If that enough doesn’t make you want to grab your own copy now, I don’t know what will.

- ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck’ written by Mark Manson is the next on my reading list. I bought this book in the airport just this summer on my way back to Dublin from London. I haven’t started reading this book yet but I’m definitely looking forward to getting started on this as I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews about it. (If you’ve read this book, please let me know in the comments what you think of it).
- The next book on my list is ‘L’art de la simplicite’ written by Dominique Loreau. I borrowed this book from my friend and I’m sure she’s itching to get it back. This book is basically a guide into how to declutter your life and focus on what’s useful and important. The whole book has an overall approach that “less is more” and it pushes the reader to “be happy” and to “live simply”.
- The next set of books on my list are the books written by Sarah Knight, ‘The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k’, ‘Get Your Sh*t Together’ and lastly, ‘You Do You’. Honestly, the first thing that drew me to these books were their titles. Who doesn’t want to get their sh*t together? I can’t wait to get stuck into these books and learn, in the words of Sarah Knight, “how to stop spending time you don’t have doing things you don’t want to do with people you don’t like”.

- The last book on my list is ‘Do No Harm’ by Henry Marsh. This is quite different from all the books mentioned above in that it isn’t a self-help/motivational book. A fact about me that most people might not know is that I study Human Health and Disease in college and this books tells the story of neurosurgeon Henry Marsh and his perspective on what it’s like to be a brain surgeon and how it feels “to hold someone’s life in your hands, to cut into the stuff that creates thought, feeling, and reason”. If you are in any way interested in health and medicine, then this book should be on your must-read list.
And that’s it! My current reading list. I can’t wait to finally finish reading all of these books considering I’m about half-way through most of them.

Have you read any of these books? What books are on YOUR reading list? Let me know in the comments below.
Yours,
Bukola Veronica

I’ve thought about buying those Sarah Knight books but I’ve heard so many mixed reviews on it – some people say that it’s funny and relatable, whereas others say it’s pretty basic and just telling you what you already know 🤷🏼♀️ I’ll have a cheeky read of it next time I’m in Waterstones.

Tbh, I find the books really funny which is why I like them but I do get why some people would call it basic.
